Breakthrough T1D

Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) is the leading global organization funding Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) research. Our mission is to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. Funded in 1950 by two mothers who had children with T1D, Breakthrough T1D is nowdays the largest patient organisation in the world with a focus on people with T1D. Breakthrough T1D has expertise and established strategic roadmaps in Artificial Pancreas Systems, encapsulation of insulin producing cells, beta cell regeneration, antigen specific immunotherapy, prevention of T1D, prevention or treatment of diabetic complications of the kidney and eye, and other select areas. In 2023, Breakthrough T1D was selected by European Commission as the only Diabetes Organization for membership to the Health Technology Assessment Stakeholder.

Role within REDDIE

In REDDIE, Breakthrough T1D will contribute in WP6 with interactions with patient organizations and forming a patient advisory committee.
